ABOUT
Julien Vinet explores the compelling contrasts that define our daily lives, as well as his desire to challenge the alienating notion of “truth” in both society and nature. At the heart of his work lies a commitment to provoking the viewer’s imagination and redefining conventional ideas of beauty. His predominantly monochromatic creations convey a kinetic depth, offering a constantly evolving, layered representation of subjects through fragmented and reconstructed lines and compositions.
Vinet’s work resists singular interpretation, inviting multiple readings instead. Each line and texture encourages the viewer to consider truth as a personal chimera—a subjective perception of an objective reality. His practice involves reusing and subtly altering found objects, transforming their original archetypes into new forms of expression. He also creates original monoprints on materials such as glass, ceramics, and metal, which are then transferred onto paper, canvas, or glue. Having lived in Japan for eight years and achieving fluency in Japanese, Vinet’s work is deeply influenced by the aesthetics and philosophies of Japanese culture, particularly its emphasis on impermanence, subtlety, and the beauty of imperfection. His creations are not merely artworks but philosophical explorations—vehicles for embracing the world’s diversity and complexity
